While I Am Alone by J.B. Burns

While I Am Alone is a collection of poems inspired by life and written by J.B. Burns. The poems are about life's issues, love, lost love, skin color, and living. J.B. tells stories in poem form about a couple growing apart, the gift of friendship, a parent's love, and this history of a black man. This book is meant to make the reader think about life, to look closer at why he or she lives and how their lives are connected to the lives of others. In the book, J.B. also explains that we should not be content with our lives but strive to break the chains of stereotypes of living life, loving, getting hurt by love and people, and loving again. He hopes this journey will open the eyes of the reader and provide a new awareness.

J.B. Burns has observed people for 48 years. Burns has seen birth, death, and has witnessed life. He was born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. He attended Druid High School and Stillman College. He is a member of Kappa Alpha Psi. He has found that no one is truly a solitary being in this life; everyone is connected to someone else. He hopes that you can find a poem that applies to a moment or situation in your life. When you do, be sure to read the poem to the person who you wish to know your thoughts and feelings.
